In the early 2000s, forty-six-year-old Selena Wright of Los Angeles, California, was just trying her best to raise her son.
But, Selena battled with mental health struggles that ultimately led to her son being moved into Child Protective Services (CPS) custody. Then later, he was placed in foster care.
Throughout this challenging period, though, Selena was still able to see her son. She would pick him up, and the pair would go to a local park to play together. They both loved spending that time together.
During one scheduled park visit, though, both Selena’s and her son’s lives would be turned upside down.
In 2002, Selena picked up her son and brought him to the park as usual. That afternoon, though, she never took her son back to his foster home.
Instead, she kidnapped him and traveled with him to Cleveland, Ohio– where her family had been living at the time.
It did not take long for Selena’s family to find out about what she had done. And following the realization, they called the local police to report her.
Law enforcement ultimately took Selena’s son away again and sent him back to his foster family in Los Angeles. After that, though, Selena was sadly never seen by her family or son again.

But Selena’s son is now an adult, and he has been relentlessly searching for his mother. He has tried getting his DNA tested and has also called rehabilitation facilities in the states where he knows his mother has lived– including Louisiana, Ohio, Florida, and California.
The rehabilitation facilities would not disclose any information, though. So, Selena’s son was forced to ramp up his efforts, and he began actually showing up at social security offices to share his story.
His first two trips were unfruitful, and he felt like no one was listening to him. Miraculously, though, his third visit actually led him one step closer to finally finding his mother.
Selena’s son learned that his mother had been collecting her social security benefits in Los Angeles, California. The office would not give him Selena’s exact address. However, he was just grateful to finally narrow down an exact city to continue his search.
And now, Selena’s son is using social media to aid his efforts. On October 7, he created a Facebook page entitled Help Find Selena Wright, where he is hoping community members might recognize his mother’s photo and point him in the right direction.
Selena was five foot five, weighed one hundred and fifty-five pounds, and had black hair and brown eyes. She was born on November 19, 1956, and would now be sixty-five years old.
