A 22-year-old girl has been dating her 24-year-old boyfriend for 2 years, and her boyfriend is obsessed with getting married to her.
He has brought up marriage more times than she can count, and he always insists that he needs to spend the rest of his life with her.
“He wants to marry me as soon as possible,” she explained. “I want to spend the rest of my life with him. But I’m too young to be married right now. I’ve told him this many, many, many times.”
“We agreed to get married in 2025 because of it. But my boyfriend still wants to propose to me right away.”
So, she has always had a feeling that it was only a matter of time before he got down on one knee. She did pick out an engagement ring with him, and he also questioned her about what her ideal proposal looked like.
She mentioned that she thought a romantic proposal would be best…you know, just them alone and that’s it.
Her boyfriend was aware that she did not want him to whip out an engagement ring in public or while they were at home doing nothing.
“I know it’s selfish to say, but I want my heart to pound with love during the moment,” she said.
“Well. Since then, it seems like my boyfriend has ignored everything I said I wanted. He’s asked me to marry him 5 times out of the blue at home while I’m doing chores or something.”

“He doesn’t go down on one knee or give me the ring, just “Hey, want to get married.” I’ve always said, “I’m too young to be married right now, but an engagement is good if you ask me in a romantic way.”
This weekend, she and her boyfriend went to a renaissance fair with a couple of their best friends.
In the days leading up to their trip, she had a feeling that her boyfriend was going to pick that time to actually propose to her.
Hoping to head things off before she had a mess on her hands, she literally told her boyfriend that she did not want him to propose to her at the renaissance fair and that she would hate to be the center of any kind of attention.
So, the day arrives for them all to go to the fair, and her boyfriend definitely had a couple of drinks while they were there.
As they were about to leave for the day, her really tipsy boyfriend walks up to her, holds out her engagement ring, and drops down on one knee.
“And he asks me in public surrounded by people,” she continued.
“I freak out and say, “I’m too young,” and try to walk away. But my boyfriend insists like “we can still be engaged.” So I said fine, and he put the ring on.”
“Then people started clapping, and I wanted to die. I still want to die thinking about it. Right away, I told him this isn’t how I wanted it to go, and I told him to please try again. Because I hate public proposals.”
“Well, he took the ring back, and he’s been spiraling down an emotional rabbit hole. He was devastated and mad that I rejected him.”
Her boyfriend hasn’t said anything to her since then, and she’s struggling with how best to handle things.
“What do I do next?” she wondered. “I don’t know how I can bring him out of this funk. Are my requests too much?”
