A fifty-two-year-old man and his ex-wife, Tracy, had three children together who are now all in their twenties– Michael, Linda, and Victoria.
He and Tracy only split up after she had an affair with another man named Stan. And now, Tracy and Stan are married.
Still, he never told the kids why he and their mother got divorced in the first place in order to avoid any anger or blame-placing.
But, keeping Tracy’s affair a secret ultimately backfired on him.
After his children watched their mom move out of their childhood home and into a small apartment, then saw their father remarry about two years later, they began thinking of him as the bad guy.
Moreover, he was forced to be the “tough parent” while Tracy got their children’s sympathy.
“Stan and Tracy pretty much let the kids do whatever they wanted, and I had to be the disciplinarian who made sure homework was done, appointments were made, and deadlines were met,” he recalled.
Eventually, though, his two oldest children– Michael and Linda– realized that their mother was in the wrong all along.
It first began when Michael learned that his mother had never put away any money for him to go to college.

The divorce decree explicitly outlined a college fund, yet Tracy told her son he needed to take out loans.
Then, his daughter Linda came to a similar understanding after realizing that her grades were not enough to get her into her desired college.
Nonetheless, his youngest daughter, Victoria, never really came around. That’s why he was utterly shocked when Victoria’s boyfriend asked for his blessing before proposing to her this year.
“And when I expressed that I did not think she would care about my blessing, he said she insisted on it,” he explained.
This was a pleasant surprise for him and even jumpstarted a closer relationship between Victoria and her father. Apparently, she began spending a lot more time with him and even acted politely toward her stepmother.
He was over the moon about this and said it felt so good to finally have his daughter back.
But then, after he went with Victoria to book her wedding venue and even paid for the deposit and first installment, everything began to change.
Victoria started being less communicative– no longer going over to his house and completely ignored his texts or just sent one-word replies.
And he was totally baffled about the sudden switch until his son Michael sent him a screenshot of Victoria’s most recent Instagram post.
Apparently, she had an engagement party that he was not invited to. Moreover, one of the photos with her stepfather Stan also included a hurtful caption.
“Anyone can be a father. It takes a real man to be a Dad. This amazing guy has been my dad for fifteen years, even though he didn’t have to be. I am so blessed to have him walk me down the aisle next year! #Daddy’sGirl #FutureMrs.X,” the caption read.
After seeing the post, he understandably felt humiliated. He also reached out to Tracy and asked why he was not included in the engagement party– who alleged that their daughter did not want his wife there in an attempt to avoid drama.
“But my wife has literally never started drama in her life,” he underscored.
So, he ended up contacting Victoria directly and asked the same question again. This time, though, his daughter said he would not be walking her down the aisle with her real dad, Stan.
In turn, he was infuriated.
He told his daughter to let Stan know that the next wedding payment was due in November– and that he would no longer be providing any financial support for the wedding.
He also knows that Tracy and Stan have no way of affording the large wedding. Still, he does not think it is right for his daughter to use him for money with no intention of actually having a relationship.
If you were in this father’s shoes, would you cut off your daughter financially also? If not, how would you go about the situation?
