She Moved To California With A Man She Loved Then She Disappeared Nearly A Month Ago After Calling Her Mom From A Stranger’s Phone
San Diego, California. Last month, 20-year-old Lateche Norris moved out to San Diego from Indiana with a man that she was in love with.
Lateche got off the plane and stepped foot in California on November 1st, and she then went to meet up with her boyfriend, who had already arrived.
Before Lateche agreed to move with him, her mom Cheryl Walker overhead Lateche’s boyfriend telling her that they would need to camp out in a tent on the beach for a couple of days before he began his new job working in construction.
Well, Cheryl says that after Lateche got to California, she quickly realized that she had been lied to by her boyfriend.
The story he had told her on the phone just wasn’t reality. Cheryl believes that’s what led to multiple arguments between the couple in the days after Lateche arrived in California.
Cheryl was getting texts and phone calls from not only Lateche, but from her boyfriend as well as they continued to disagree.
On the morning of November 5th, Lateche called Cheryl from a stranger’s phone to ask her mom if she had spoken to her boyfriend.
Cheryl had, and Lateche wanted her mom to give her the phone number that her boyfriend had called from.

“I let her go so she could call him and I say “You call me back! I love you,” Cheryl explained in a Facebook post. “The last words my daughter said were “I will Momma, I promise I love you more.”
After that, Cheryl stopped hearing from Lateche, and she also was unable to get a hold of Lateche’s boyfriend.
4 days later, Cheryl still couldn’t reach Lateche, so she called the San Diego Police Department to report her daughter as missing, but she says authorities did not take her report seriously and brushed it off.
Cheryl quickly boarded a plane to San Diego, and she started handing out flyers and talking to people in the area to see if she could future out what happened to her daughter.
“My daughter followed a troubled man out here that she loves, her spirit is a force to be reckoned with,” Cheryl said.

“She’s an ally, she’s an advocate, she’s the girl who was more excited to work with special needs students than she was for prom or homecoming. She’s a warrior, she won’t back down from those who oppress others.”
“She’s loyal and determined! She’ll jump into the fire for those she loves with no regard for herself because she thinks she’ll be fine!”
“She’s brave, and was taught not to be afraid and not to give up when life looks ugly… you fight harder!”
Cheryl is still searching for Lateche, and she has no plans to return home to Indiana until she gets answers.

“My daughter is just as important as Gabby Petito!” Cheryl continued. “As if what happened to that sweet girl wasn’t heartbreaking enough… the true tragedy is that you learned NOTHING from it that helps prevent this from happening again!”
“You’d rather dismiss alarming information I gave your police department the day I reported her missing! You did NOTHING!!! You chose to ignore the red flags, and try to push a narrative that “We see this all the time”… NOW I understand what that meant. Instead of investigate, or do ANYTHING other than toss her file in the pile of “Well she’s probably living in tent city and just isn’t calling family” HOW DARE YOU!”
While other people around the country sat down to have dinner with their loved ones on Thanksgiving, Cheryl passed out flyers for Lateche to raise awareness for her daughter, who remains.
