StudioDock 3i USB Studio Monitors with Built-in iPod Dock
July 18, 2008
The StudioDock 3i USB Studio Monitors are not particularly feminine and the name of it is kind of disconcerting….But generally speaking its a pretty powerful speaker system that has a dock for your iPod. The speaker itself features a tweeter, copolymer woofer, LED indicator, volume control, and USB port to attach to a computer for syncing and mixing tunes. If you are a DJ and want less equipment to lug around then I highly suggest getting one of these, or if you want the sound of a stereo rack system without the tuner and other components but still want to feel your music then this is a good bet for you too. The StudioDock 3i will retail for $149 per speaker.

This isn’t the first set of portable iPod Speakers that Roxy has come out with, but it’s just as welcome. This latest edition of the i-P22 iPod Speaker system (AKA the iPod Speaker Case) sports a floral pattern as opposed to the previous edition’s polka-dots. Feature-wise, the device sports the same slim hard cover case as well as the ability to run off of 4 AA batteries or an AC adapter. So overall nothing to write home about, except for the fact that it sure is darn pretty for an iPod speaker. Roxy’s iPod Speaker case retails for $119.

Xi iPod Jukebox Has a LCD for Playing Music Videos
May 29, 2008
So we have seen a lot of ipod Jukeboxes over the years, but Sound Leisure’s Xi Jukebox definitely brings some unique features to the typical ipod Jukebox you might find out there. For starters, this one has a LCD screen for playing back music videos and photo slideshows. It’s also covered in LED lighting and has a color scheme that you can change according to your mood. The rest of it is what you would expect, it works as an ipod dock that will charge your ipod and play its music via its powerful Mk7 Twin channel Amplifier with 150w per channel. For those of you in London whom would like to check it out for yourself, we spotted one at Harrods and were impressed. This is one piece that would make a grand addition to your home furnishings. Unfortunately we don’t have pricing info but although the Xi Jukebox is designed for home use, don’t expect it to be cheap.

Hannah Montana iPod Docking System is Kinda Nice
April 4, 2008
I hate to say it but Disney inspired iPod docking systems seem to be the most unique ones out there these days. Several weeks ago we mentioned the High School Musical iPod Docking Locker. Now we have a Hannah Montana branded one. Designed obviously with the ‘tween set in mind. The cute docking station is covered in purple with flowers and has some nice features as well. However, there are no specifics as to what the buttons or the input jacks are for on the website which is too bad. But from what I do gather it looks like you could probably alter the levels of the treble, bass, etc.. Retailing for $69.99 I’m sure this would make one Hannah Montana fan very happy.

mStation Orb Review
February 21, 2008
As we all know iPod dock stations are a dime a dozen these days. However what make the few of them standout from the rest is their design and sound quality. The mStation Orb is one such Docking/Speaker Station that is great looking and great to listen too and we were lucky enough to review it.
Setup/Installation:
When we excitedly unpacked the Orb from its box we were greeted with a pretty slick docking station that resembles a red tomato. Other items included inside the box are 10 docking cradles, all in red as well as a color coordinated remote control, a USB Cable, and a stereo mini cable. On top of the Orb are 6 buttons: power, volume controls, previous, forward, and play/pause. These buttons are also located on the remote and you can also control the Bass and Treble from the remote. The remote is thin and light weight, only somewhat bigger than a credit card. Overall, setup was easy, and we easily snapped in the appropriate cradle for our 3rd generation Nano. Besides using the included cradles there is a Firewire port that allows you to connect really older iPod generations, which is a great feature that most iPod docking stations don’t have. Then we plugged in the AC adapter to power the speaker and the included USB cable for syncing the Orb to your computer. The whole set-up took less than 5 minutes and even though there were instructions included, we figured it out on our own. [Read more]
ION Audio Block Rocker for Those Wannabe DJ’s
February 20, 2008
These days everyone thinks they can be the next great DJ. Just because they know how to mix a few songs and buy big head phones that make them look cool doesn’t mean you’re the next Mark Ronson. However if you absolutely insist here is the poor man’s version of a DJ kit. The ION Audio Block Rocker is a portable speaker system that has 4 inputs for your CD Player, MP3 Player, universal dock for iPod, and microphones. This unit is perfect for gigs and has no cords or extra external components, it will fit in your car perfectly if you need to travel around to events. It’s not the prettiest looking speaker but it is durable and sturdy and has a long lasting battery. For $299 this is a cheap effective alternative instead of lugging around huge pieces of equipment. Your back will thank you.
iNo Trivia Game Doubles as a iPod Speaker
February 14, 2008
Here we go - another creative way of using your iPod. Named the iNo, because g-d forbid any device for the iPod shouldn’t have an “i” in it, sorry ranting. The iNo is a trivia game that will surely be a great drinking game. Get all your friends together with their iPods, I’m sure you know a few. Plug them in at random into the iNo module which supposedly has a good quality speaker and start playing this unique music trivia game. The players are supposed to guess the title and artist of the song that is being played on the iPod. So once and for all you will know who exactly out of all your friends bought the latest Britney album. Four color coded scoreboards, four electronic wireless remote controls, and 50 action cards are also included and add to the excitement of the game. [Read more]
