GoldKey USB Security Token Encrypts Your Documents and Survives Natural Disasters
June 16, 2008
If you work with highly sensitive documents constantly, then the GoldKey USB Security Token may be the type of gadget you need to keep those documents from landing in the wrong hands. You can encrypt any document with the Gold Key. Insert it into a USB port and then with a few clicks of the mouse it will be encrypted and will not be accessible without the key inserted again into your desktop or laptop. It truly locks/unlocks your data. Besides putting Fort Knox around highly sensitive documents, the key itself is extremely durable and can handle any element: water, fire and even getting run over by a car. You have to check out the videos which are funny and insulting to Asians all at the same time… 1 GoldKey will cost you $132 but if you need more than one, it will cost you upwards of $799…and it better damn well be made out of gold for that price!
Surfs Up with Burtons Snowboard USB Flash Drive
June 12, 2008
Though we can barely balance ourselves on a skateboard for 5 seconds, forget about an actual surf or snowboard, we love Burtons clothing and accessories. Luckily they are now producing some boards that are safe enough for geeks like us to operate. ACP-EP Memory and Burton have teamed up to produce some stylin 2GB snowboards. There is the colorful Feelgood drive for $19.99, an unnamed but pretty black/ white / red version for $29.99 and the slick black Vapor for $29.99. Personally, we like the cheaper Feelgood one. We’re suckers for colorful GADGETS.
Verbatim’s Affordable Firewire/USB Portable Hard Drive
June 12, 2008
Ultraportable hard drives are all the rage nowadays, their getting cheaper and cheaper and better looking as companies compete to come out with slicker designs and cool colors. A USB hard drive does the job, but if we recommend getting one with Firewire as well because firewire reads and writes much faster and more reliably than USB. Unfortunately most ultraportable hard drives with Firewire cost substantially more than their single USB counterparts. That is why we were oh, so delighted to come across Verbatim’s affordable USB/ Firewire portable hard drives. The pretty slick hard drives are totally USB or Firewire powered, sport 5,400RPM hard drives inside and come in capacities as big as 500GB and 320GB. The 320GB version is even on available for as little as $129, making it comparably priced to a ultraportable USB harddrive.
