Kata Bags Digital Rucksack DR-467 and Sensitivity V Backpacks Review
October 10, 2008
Being a blogger and one that travels quite often, you really depend on a good bag that is lightweight, durable, and will carry just about all your electronics and the many adapters along with them. Until now I was basically shoving (and carefully I might add) all my junk into typical laptop backpacks. My laptop in the designated laptop area, iPod, USB cables, adapters, USB keys, a book and a D/SLR in a separate camera bag. It is a tight fit but I managed, and I have to admit going through airport security was a bit hellish. Recently I discovered the Kata Bags and I have to say it was with great pleasure that I got to review both the Digital Rucksack DR-467-WY and Sensitivity V. FINALLY! A bag meant for those always on the go with pockets specifically made for all the junk we gadget obsessed folks carry. [Read more]
Ice Red’s Sirocco Laptop Bag Review
October 3, 2008
At first glance, the Sirocco laptop bag seems like a big and boxy tote bag. But sometimes big and boxy is just what you need and you didn’t even know it. It easily fits my 13″ inch MacBook with ease and room to spare. It can hold up laptops up to 15.4″ inches. The exterior is made out of a crinkly nylon material that reminds me of a ripstop material. It makes cleanup a cinch if you’re a klutz like me, should you accidentally spill something. The bag is lined with a nylon interior all around.
If you’ve read my past reviews, you’d know how much I love pockets; the more the better. I like everything organized so my items are easily accessible. I hate digging around trying to find something at the bottom. The front pocket has multiple compartments for your ID, cellphone, ipod, pens, etc. The pocket behind it is large enough to fit magazines. On the inside, a lined and padded divider splits the bag in two. I put my laptop in one compartment, and the power cord and accessories in the other. On the backside, there is another large pocket. Should you need more space, there is a side zipper that expands the main compartment by 2″.
The zippers and zipper pulls are a bit plastic-y looking, and thick at about 1/4″ wide. After first I wasn’t terribly fond of the chunky look, but then I realized that it would be unlikely to snag nor break. What I love best about the bag is comfort factor. I hardly carry my laptop with the handles. I seriously love the adjustable shoulder strap. It’s padded with a wide rubber material and makes such a huge difference. The shoulder strap is also long enough so I can carry it like a messenger bag across the chest. Everything is so roomy that you could hold a ton of stuff and it wouldn’t even give you shoulder strain like other bags. It makes for a perfect book bag actually.
While the bag’s main demographic is geared towards women, the bag has an unisex utilitarian and rugged look. The gray with the orange interior is shown. The color combination lends itself to an urban look and feel. It’s also available in blue, red, and black. You may purchase the Siroco at Ice Red for $69.95.
Pros: Spacious. Has lots of pockets and doesn’t even look like a laptop bag.
Cons: The bag is a bit large for my small frame. The padding is decent, but could be better.
Dimensions:
17″ L x 13″ H x 4″ D
Laptop Compartment: 16″ L x 11″ H x 2″ D

Marilyn Phone is Literally a Telephone Bag for Your Cellphone
September 21, 2008
There are tons of cellphone cases and bags but what about a literal verison of a telephone bag? Timmy Woods has designed the epitome of a phone bag which resembles an actual telephone, it’s called the Marilyn Phone. Its design is circa the 1960s and sports a rotary dial, no less with red lips smack in the middle of it. The Marilyn Phone is named after Ms. Monroe herself and the best part is that it was featured in an episode of Sex and CIty donned by Carrie Bradshaw herself. You can easily put your cellphone in it and confuse people if your bag rings. I can see it now “Is that your bag ringing? “, “How do you answer it?” Oh, I could go on forever but I won’t. So if you plan on running out to buy the DVD this week for the SATC movie you may consider honoring the fab four by sipping cosmos with the bag and dvd in hand. The Marilyn Phone retails for $375 but if you buy the DVD you can save 10% off the bag at the HBO store, where it’s retailing for $350.
Security Friendly Laptop Sleeves from Case logic that are Stylish - FINALLY!
September 19, 2008
I’m so glad to finally see that a company has taken an intiative to actually design some women friendly and security friendly laptop sleeves. I say BRAVO! it’s about time. Why should all laptop cases, bags, and sleeves look like big black ugly things with no style at all even if its security checkpoint friendly. These neoprene sleeves are not only nice, but they can also be turned inside out to form a different design. It’s like getting two sleeves for the price of one. The Security Friendly sleeves come in a wide range of colors and different sizes and even support the MacBook Air. Prices range from $18.89 all the way up to $49.99.

Snupped Designer Laptop Sleeve Review
September 5, 2008
A few weeks ago we wrote about a Snupped a company that specialized in making trendy and funky designed laptop sleeves. Recently we were lucky enough to get a hands on experience with one of them.
As we mentioned in the past Snupped has many sizes available to fit random screens. We got a chance to test a sleeve made for the Dell XPS laptop with a screen size of 13.3″. We were sent the Stylish Girls in black which we thought was very appropriate, it retails for $33.94. At first glance the Snupped sleeve is not an ordinary neoprene case with memory foam, Instead tt’s a well sewn sleeve with a bright and lovely pattern almost like a quilt. So we slipped the laptop into it and it was a very nice tight fit. It looked like my laptop was tucked in for the night for a good sleep. There is a bit of foam for protection but overall the material is very light and wouldn’t protect from much impact if dropped. However I did feel like it would be protected if I schlepped it around. If you were to knock it into pointy or sharp items you may tear the cotton sleeve but your baby would stay safe.

Pinky Tree a Living Green Mobile Charm
August 31, 2008
Now this is one mobile phone charm I might actually put on my cellphone. Pinky Tree is a living and breathing baby plant that grows in a 2″ ‘capsule,’ aka incubator. It will grow for about 6 months to a year inside its capsule and then will need to be re-potted and join and the real world. But for a year or less you will have an awesome charm that can go on your phone, keys, or handbag. It will need some help of course to actually make it out of its incubator, so you will need to water it atleast once or twice a month by dipping its base into water. There are plenty of Pinky Trees to choose from, some looking like cactuses others just very unique looking green plants. 100 stores in Europe already sell Pinky Trees as well as 300 stores in Japan. According to the website it will be coming to America soon.

Rainebrooke Metro-Traveler Laptop Bag Review
August 28, 2008

All laptop bags have their perks. Rainebrooke’s Metro-Traveler offers the unique option to personalize your laptop bag via embroidery, or basically however you like, since it is made out of 600D Nylon on the exterior. This makes it a great buy for the college and under demographic who needs to get clever pins and Sharpee laden slogans out of their system. It has remarkable padding, a little under an inch thick, to protect laptops of the young and spontaneous (ie… clumsy). This is a lot like a backpack reincarnated into a laptop bag. [Read more]

Ice Red has proved to be a reliable company for sturdy cute bags such as the sporty chic messenger bag we reviewed last year. The “Shine” laptop bag is a design anomaly for Ice Red. It is feminine, glossy, and bright! In this transition to blunt fashionista bags, they didn’t lose versatility or sturdiness. In fact, they cleverly incorporated it to their advantage. [Read more]
