Loc8tor Lite Remembers Where Your Brains Are So You Don’t Have too
January 31, 2008
It’s pathetic - everytime I leave my home, I’m back 10 minutes later because I forgot something. Then of course when I come back I forgot where I last put it. It never fails. Well the Loc8tor Lite will hopefully help my early case of senility. It is as small as a credit card and will help you detect almost anything that you misplaced. You attach homing tags to the items you lose most often and the Loc8tor Lite will assist in helping you find them, “keys, cameras, TV remotes, pets, mobile phones, wallets, purses or even the car.” With audio and visual cues the Loc8ter Lite will find anything up to 122 meter/ 400 feet away. There are even additional tags available you can buy if you are even more forgetful than the average person. [Read more]
Insignia Sport Bluetooth MP3 Player Review
January 31, 2008
I happily brought in the New Year with lots of cheer and good wishes but I also got the opportunity to merrily put Best Buy’s Insignia mp3 player to the test. You may also recall this brick and mortar electronic giant, acquiring the on-line Rhapsody digital music store. Thus, this began their foray into the digital download era. However, not satisfied that their digital store could work with various manufacturers’ mp3 players, they decided to launch their very own brand of mp3 player. Dubbed the Insignia Sport mp3 player, Best Buy wanted this player to have what most mp3 players (such as the iPod lacks) and that is the ability to use A2DP Bluetooth. The Insignia player is compatible with Windows 98, 2000, XP, and Vista as well as Mac OS 8.6 or later.
Weighing less than one ounce this 4gb player measures 043” x 1.6”, sports a 1.7′ viewable resolution, plays music, videos audio books and photos and has built-in Bluetooth wireless audio (which enables one to pair it with Bluetooth stereo head phones) as well as a built-in FM RDS tuner which shows the Song and Artist. The latter feature is only available if the FM station has this service. Additionally, this player comes with Wired Ear buds, a mini USB 2.0 cable, and a full hard copy of the User’s Manual, Software and can accommodate extra external storage by way of a SD Micro slot on the player. We should also point out that we were supplied a pair of Insignia Bluetooth Stereo headphones for the testing of this unit (however, you can use any comparable Bluetooth stereo headphones). Volkswagen Sound and Light USB Keys Go VROOM
January 30, 2008
The Volkswagen USB Sound and Light Memory Stick is another set of adorable USB keys you don’t need but you’ll want anyway. These adorable little automobiles double as USB keys and are available as a Volkswagen green or red camper van or a blue or pink Volkswagen car. The product description doesn’t go in to details, but we gather from the product picture that these little cars have headlights that flash and that they possibly make a neat “vroom” sound. Unfortunately there is a catch to these cute little fellas. [Read more]
USB Basketball Desktop Dunk Game
January 30, 2008
Another fine distraction at the office, we present to you the USB Basketball Desktop Dunk. Ah, memories of youth. This USB toy does seem very similar to the portable electronic hoops game where you could dunk shots. I loved that game because I actually didn’t have to be tall to play basketball but just had to aim correctly with my little hands. The Basketball dunk attaches to your computer via a USB connector and there is actual sound and score-keeping. Cute and cool you will definitely be the talk of the water cooler. It retails for $29.99.

In conjunction with Sharp, the SoftBank 920SH YK will allow you to watch the stock market in real-time in order for you to decide to hold or sell. There is even a designated Stock Button. Alfie Audio iPod Audio System Brings Sexy Back to the Bedroom
January 29, 2008
I have never been a fan of alarm clocks. They are just nasty little boxes that make noise at 7am and remind you its time to get up to go to work. Well the Alfie iPod Audio System is looking to put the sexy back in alarm clock radios. Not just your typical morning noise maker, Alfie is a beautiful piece of equipment that you may want to think twice about before smashing the snooze. The clock is covered in a sleek polished black laquer design with an iPod dock located on the back of the unit. Inside it has a FM/AM radio, Digital Clock with Dual Alarm, Bass enhancement and subwoofer, CD tray for Music CD’s, and it comes with a remote control. All of this pumping out at 40 Watts. Currently there is no pricing available, only some wholesalers you contact directly if you are interested in buying.
SoakTV Wireless Waterproof Television
January 29, 2008
Who knew people were so fascinated with mixing technology and water, in the past that would be rather dangerous. Mp3 players can be thrown into water if you have that nice hardshell plastic protector from H20. Kohler has the DTV II system, that can give you hours of enjoyment and entertainment in the Shower/Bath. So adding to this new waterproof craze is the Soak TV line which has Waterproof LCDs that can be used outside or inside your home. Their coolest model is their Wireless Waterproof TV with stereo speakers and the ability to connect to a PC or DVD player. You can place it by the pool or on a kitchen counter top - It’s meant to withstand the elements. Within reason of course - I don’t suggest watching the LCD when there is a Hurricane outside. Most of the Soak TV line is not available yet, but will be soon. We only found pricing for the one unit that is available, the Soak104 model which retails for £494.95. [Read more]
TUFFWRAP PLUS Review for the Nano
January 29, 2008
Cases! We seem to be in undated with cases! Unlike some of the previous iPod/Nano/iPhone cases we reviewed recently, this is not a clear shield for a change and doesn’t require any solution or steady hands or a squeege to put it on. XtremeMac’s TuffWrap Plus for the 3G Nano is a practical and lightweight case that does a great job of keeping your 3G Nano protected through out the daily grind.
Combining the best of both worlds, the case is made of the standard silicone you’re used to seeing on many other cases. The silicone of course helps protect from bumps and scratches and contours to the shape of the Nano. Touch sensitivity with the silicone was great - I didn’t experience any lag and my Nano was left looking sporty yet protected from any harm. The front part of the case is made of an impact resistant screen protector that protects the Nano’s screen from any damage but still lets you enjoy a pleasant viewing experience. This screen protector is easily removable and can be so that it can easily be washed. I’ve had many iPod cases, and the ability to take off and wash the screen is integral. After awhile these cases get so gross, especially in the screen area and it’s not always so easy to clean under them without have to take the whole case off again. This takes care of that. JCB Toughphone is a Cell Phone not Even a Mother Could Love
January 27, 2008
We just recently posted about two very fashion forward phones from Sony Ericsson and Nokia that will be released soon. However it seems that no one told the manufacturers of this big bee-like block of a phone to get a clue. Available at Bamford & Sons, the JCB Toughphone (AKA the Sonim XP1) is not made to look pretty at all but instead resembles a Tonka Truck or a plastic Walkie Talkie. This industrial strength phone can take on dust, shock, water, and constant dropping. Internally the phone has bluetooth, Push to Talk, and dual speakers that are loud enough to hear conversations over any digging of bedrock. To its credit, the toughphone is also available in black / black, black / red, black / blue, black/ green or black / gray choices, but even those colorful options don’t do much to redeem its rugged looks. The Nokia 8800 is a good example of a high end fashion phone that set standards for other phones to follow after. Now in collaboration with designer Frédérique Daubal, Nokia is set to take the fashion phone one step further with an intoxicating mix of burgundy and black to convey contemporary style. Zana Design Series of Luxury Wooden, Silver and Precious Stones USB Keys
January 25, 2008
Zana Design has a series of unusual USB keys made from wood, silver and “precious stones”. Each of their USB keys are actually hand made and thus sport a unique character. Available in 1gb or 2gb capacities, the USB keys retail for an average $64 to $74 for the 2GB versions. Of course, $74 for 2Gb is way overpriced but these USB keys do look kind of luxurious. They are even designed to be worn on a lanyard as a necklace.
