Japanese Fast Food Conveyor Belt Sushi
April 16, 2007 · Print This Article
Conveyor Belt Sushi, a trend that unsurprisingly started in the far east is making it’s way to U.S. restaurants like Hanakai Sushi Bar & Grill in Las Vegas. Restaurants with the conveyor belt have it winding through the restaurant with a constant stream of sushi, and sometimes serve other food such as desserts and soups. According to Wikipedia, restaurants like these “are usually considered toward the bottom end of both price and quality compared to traditional sushi restaurant.” Regardless, we’re pretty sure we’d eat breakfast, lunch and supper in such a restaurant. YouTube has a funny video tour from the conveyor belt in one of these restaurants. And leave it to the Japanese - some restaurants have RFID tags in place to make sure that no Sushi is rotated for too long and ends up spoiled.
