Celebrity Weighing Scale

March 30, 2007

p1753ex3.jpgWhy is everyone in this country so weight obsessed… and why are we all so obsessed over how much Celebrities weigh? Pick up an issue of Star magazine and you’ll notice pages dedicated to who looks good in a swim suit and who doesn’t, who lost a few pounds recently and who gained. The Celebrity Weighing Scale mocks our celebrity-weight obsessed culture by replacing measurement units with the names of celebrities, historical figures as well as a few fictional characters. If you stand on this scale and land on Yoda, you rock. If you land on Gary Coleman - how will you be able to look at yourself in the morning? The Celebrity Weighing Scale is available in blue or white and retails for $34.95.

Pinger Aims to Replace Text Messages with Instant Voice Messages

March 30, 2007

pinger.jpgPinger is a free service that allows you to send a voice message to anyone with a phone, without having their phone ring. Essentially, it’s like a sending a text message but it’s with voice instead of text. Once you sign up, you import your contacts (Gmail, Outlook and most popular email services are supported). Pinger than supplies you with a free personal local number which you use for sending and receiving messages. When you’re ready to send a message, you dial your personal number, say the name of one of the people listed in your contacts and leave the message you want sent to them. Pinger also allows you to send the same message to multiple people at once. Each person gets a text message letting them know that they have a new voice message which they can listen to by calling a number instructed in the text message. Furthermore, all the messages that you ever send and receive are stored in your Pinger.com account so that you can access them at any time via the web. Overall, we can definately see how Pinger could be useful in certain situations. Voice messages are definately more personal than text messages, and thus are generally a more affective way to get a message across. The fact that Pinger works with every mobile phone is a nice touch as well. However, maybe we’re just cheap but Pinger isn’t something that we would use if we had to shell out cash for it. Adobe Creative Suite 3 New York Launch Event

March 30, 2007

cs3launch.JPGTuesday’s Creative Suite 3 Launch party in New York really impressed me. No, it wasn’t the screwdrivers that they were serving that won me over, it was actually the presentations. While the speakers didn’t delve in to all of the new features, they did present samples of some of the kick ass new functions that CS3 brings to the plate. It’s funny how most of these new features are things that I never would have thought up on my own, but now that I’ve seen them in action, I can’t wait to use them. Also, aside from these new features, over all integration between the different software programs has been greatly improved.
Anyway, here are some of the new features that stood out for me:

  • You can now export a DVD menu created in Encore to a Flash file which can be interacted with on the web. That is enough to make me want to move to Encore for all of my DVD creation needs.
  • If you are working on an After Effects project, you can bring that file right in to Premiere without having to render it out first.
  • The new Puppet Tool in After Effects allows you to stretch and manipulate a static image to create a surprisingly natural animation.
  • You can bring Photoshop PSD files directly in to Dreamweaver and even choose between layers.
  • Dreamweaver now supports AJAX, and there is improved CSS support as well.
  • The new Live Color feature in Illustrator allows you save color schemes which can be automatically applied to projects.
  • The new eraser tool in Illustrator not only erases objects, but leaves behind anchor points to make your life easier.
  • And finally, animating Illustrator files in Flash is now a lot easier.

Stylish Pink Leather Nikau Case for the RAZR V3

March 28, 2007

nikurazr.jpgThe Nikau is a slim and stylish leather case designed for the RAZR V3. The outside is made of smooth leather and the inside is lined with a soft suede. We think that it’s winning feature is its unique flip-top magnetic closure, which would probably be bad for us because we’d play with it the whole day. The case also comes with the usual rear belt clip. The Nikau is available in pink or black and it retails for $45, which is ironically a lot more than you would spend on a RAZR itself if you purchased one with a contract.

Mvix MX-760HD Asks Apple TV to Step Outside

March 28, 2007

mx760hd.jpgWhile everyone was buying a new ipod, you went for iRiver. While everyone was buying a Macbook, you went for an Asus. You know who you are. Now that the Apple TV is out, what are you going to get? The Mvix MX-760HD. It may not be as elegantly designed, but it isn’t ugly either. And anyway isn’t it what’s on the inside that counts? On the inside the Mvix MX-760HD trumps the Apple TV in many ways. For starters it has support for a ton of more formats than its Apple counterpart; such as Divx, Xvid, VCD, WMV, ASF, AVI, OGG, and WMA files. And it has a maximum output of 1920×1080 versus the Apple TV’s 1280×720 resolution. It also has a hard drive capacity only limited by how much you put in to it. Apple, Shmapple you say… this is the device for the BitTorrent generation. Read on for a more in depth comparison. [Read more]

March 27, 2007

hearspot.gifWe’ve seen quite the variety of bags with speakers in our time, but a pet tote with stereo speakers? This is totally unnerving us. Forget those fancy shmancy Louis Vuitton pet carry-on bags, carry Fluffy around in one of the Hear Spot! Stereo Pet Tote bags. The bags can connect to most portable music players and are designed with two-side of ventilation to keep man’s best friend safe and comfy. The totes retail for $185 and are available in several designs. Woof.

Oh, and for those of you confused for as to what a technosexual is, here is the Wikipedia definition: A person with a strong aesthetic sense and a love of gadgets.

Pendand Style Pulsar 260 Stereo Bluetooth Headset

March 27, 2007

plantronics260.jpgWhat can we say, we are demanding when it comes to headsets. We like them wireless, small and with high-quality stereo sound. The new pendant style Pulsar 260 Stereo Bluetooth headset certainly seems to fit the bill. The compact headset has a clip which easily attaches to pockets or straps, and it has ear phones made of contoured, soft silicone gel tips, which are unusual for a bluetooth headset. The 260 connects to your cell phone via bluetooth for calls, and it supports the A2DP bluetooth profile so that you can wirelessly listen to stereo music on your phone. Adobe Creative Suite 3 Launch, Finally!

March 27, 2007

cs3.JPGAfter months of anticipation, especially for Mac users with Intel processors, Adobe has finally launched new versions of its Creative Suite. The new suites have been grouped together for different kinds of web, print and video production, and there is also a Master Collection which throws in all the goodies at once. For fans of Dreamweaver, Fireworks and other software which originated from Macromedia, these are a part of the suites too. Gone for good is Adobe GoLive, we hardly knew ye. But out with the old and in with the new right? There is a new Photoshop CS3 Extended version designed for people with advanced video production and architectural needs, there is also the new Soundbooth CS3 which sounds like it might be a Pro Tools alternative - though it’s too early to tell, and there is also the new Device Central CS3 which will make it a lot easier for developers and designers to design and test content created for mobile phones. Overall, I’m pretty excited. Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects are staples of every day life for me, and I can’t wait to give them a whirl on my Mac Pro and see them leave some track marks behind. For more information on the new suites and when they’ll be available, check out Adobe’s CS3 launch site. Also, at 3:30pm E.T. there is going to be a live Webcast of the launch event taking place in New York City. We’ll be there too, so don’t forget to scope the audience for illustrated 2D figures.

HairMax LaserComb Combats Baldness and Promises Thicker, Fuller, Healthier Looking Hair

March 26, 2007

hairmax.jpgWe recently attended Hairmax’s LaserComb launch Party in New York at Bruno Jamais Restaurant Club and got to find out about this new product that is ready to aid a lot of men and women suffering from a very distressing condition - hair loss. Contrary to popular belief, hair loss is often a major issue for women as much as it is for men. And not everyone is keen on the popular drug treatment methods.beforeafter.jpg HairMax LaserComb has been so far proven to be the only affective drug-free treatmeng alternative. It’s easy to use and it requires just passing it through your hair for 10 to 15 minutes at a time, three times a week. The LaserComb is not cheap at a retail price of $545, but neither is a constant supply of Rogain and similar drugs. And we personally approve a gadget over a drug anyday. But in case the idea of using a “laser” on your head gets you nervous, it’s important to know that the technology behind the LaserComb is certified and FDA approved, so you can feel confident that you are safe using it.

Almost Half of All Gamers in the U.K. are Female

March 26, 2007

pinkpsp.jpgIn Electronic Gaming Monthly’s recent April issue, they have an interesting piece on the different gaming trends and tastes that vary from country to country. When discussing the United Kingdom’s gaming trends, they mention that according to research from Some Group, a London-based consumer-analysis group, almost half of all gamers in the U.K. are female. We’re a little bit surprised by this figure, but if anything, it’s just another reason to love the British other than for their lovely accents.

Super Mario Bros 3 Dot-Pin Toy Set

March 26, 2007

smb_dots_v3_zhop.jpgIt seems that we just can’t get enough of Super Mario nowadays. Our latest Super Mario find is the Dot-Pin Toy set which features characters from Super Mario Bros 3 including Mario, Luigi and a bunch of foes. Playing with pegs isn’t exactly our favorite past time, but what can we say - we’re a sucker for anything with Toads and Goombas. The sets retail for $9.00 each.
