Hand-Made Computer Part Jewelry
December 31, 2006

While this isn’t the first time we’ve spotted hand-made jewelry created out of computer parts, the more the merrier. Bonnie Meltzer has designed several pieces of jewelry using industrially geeky objects such as magnets, wires, and even a hard drive motor. The Crocheted magnet and plastic coated wire with hard drive motor and beads retails for $175. If that is too much for you to spend on recycled computer parts, she has several other more inexpensive necklaces including the Networking Necklace which is made up of a combination of ethernet jacks and beats, and it’s available for $60. Another necklace that we’re fond of is the Circuit board pendent necklace that uses two of the three included connectors to fit together and form the closing of the necklace. The Circuit board pendent necklace sells for $60.
Music Image Sofa System Stores All Your AV Equipment
December 31, 2006

This ordinary-looking sofa packs in some very extraordinary goodies. A Phillippe Starck creation, the sofa is designed to hide cables, wires and all the clutter involved with a complicated modern-day home theater system. The M.I.S.S. (Music Image Sofa System) also houses two speakers and a subwoofer, and it has a pop up video projector compartment hiding at its back. This do-it-all couch will cost you upwards of £4000, but we wouldn’t expect it to be a penny less since it’s truly one of a kind. (Source: T3 Home Magazine, Winter 2006)

Careful with the Tush…Pedestrian Crossing
December 29, 2006

If you’re looking for an uncommon and unique item with which to remember your visit to New York City, but are sick of the souvenir and run-of-the-mill gift shops, look no more. Give your tush a rest on this cushionless "road tested chair". The chair is made out of New York City "Walk/Don’t Walk" signs that actually work, and a remote control is included to turn them on/off. And for $3700, they better include the remote control!
"The chair can come complete with all the genuine scuffs and stains of its New York City roots or can come "squeaky clean" with a fresh coat of paint. The seating surfaces have been reglazed with one inch-thick polished resin, cushioned with felt suspension. The chair plugs into a standard 115V AC outlet, and the standard bulbs (included) are replaceable. Handmade in New York City."
We hope that these signs weren’t vandalized off of the sidewalk. But what better way to remember NYC then by taking a signature piece home with you? - Natalie Mayslich

December 29, 2006

A long long time ago, in a land land far far away, there were these massive black things called LPs that played music. Mini-Sized PSP and Nintendo DS Rip-Offs
December 27, 2006

There are a zillion iPod rip-offs floating around Asia, but somehow this is the first time we’ve ever came across a game handheld console rip-off. Alibaba, a global trading site, has a handheld game listed that looks exactly like a mini version of a PSP. The handheld comes with earphones and a hand strap and it is compatible with games such as: Socccer, Street Fighter, Submarine Invasion, and Fortress Guardian. We can’t help but laugh at how they printed "POP Station" on the actual handheld.
Not to be left out, the Nintendo DS also has a mini-sized rip-off listed on Alibaba called "Double Game". And it seems that this Nintendo DS wannabe is capable of the same exact games as the PSP wannabe. Yeh, and even though it’s called "Double Game," we highly doubt that the bottom touch screen works at all.
