Mivx Multimedia Player

If there is one thing I love, it’s hard drives. And what better to fill a hard
drive with but Picture, Music, and Video media files. The only snag with that is
once I’ve got my hard drive backing up all my media files, how do I play them
outside my computer? Sure, I could burn CDs and DVDs, but that’s cumbersome. I’m
a modern girl, I want to form a playlist and watch every episode of The O.C.
from the beginning, right off the drive. I’ve tried some server type
devices that stream files off my hard drive to my TV, but that has it’s
drawbacks, such as slowing down the computer, or when I’m doing something that
uses lots of CPU, the video will skip.
The Mvix Multimedia Player looks like a
great solution. It’s basically a jazzed up external hard drive enclosure, so
that you can bring your own internal hard drive and stick it in there. Then you
just plug the Mivx Player it into your TV or stereo and you can play all your
music or videos, as well as display pictures using the simple interface on your
TV.
And no worries - it has all the normal outputs you could want to connect it
to your TV and it supports lots of formats including DVD, mpg, avi, mp3, wma, and
ogg vorbis. Also, the Mivx Multimedia Player is fairly portable, so that means I
could finally have an easy way to get my friend caught up with Gilmore
Girls with a proper full marathon, despite her ancient media setup that rejects
half of my DVDs.
Finally, as an added bonus, the Mivx player will even stream
music to your FM radio. The Mvix Multimedia Player comes with external 12V DC
Adapter, a stand, remote control, bag, A/V cables, and a USB cable. It’s
available from ThinkGeek.com for $199.99 and should be available to purchase
later this month.

I have a very similar device from Modix and it rocks! Much better than streaming from the PC, and I can take it to a friend’s place if I want to show them my videos or photos.
