The iPod & Hello Kitty Rip-Off AKA the X-88A Novel MP3 Player
October 31, 2005
I think the title of this post pretty much sums this MP3 player up. But alljokes and snide remarks aside, the
X-88A Novel MP3 Player supports MP3, WMA, ASF, and WAV music files, has 6
equalizers, a Built-in microphone, it supports capacities
ranging from 32 to 512MB, and has a LED screen for indicating playing status.
LED Display Belts & Dog Tags
October 31, 2005
Nowadays, whether it be our iPods or our cell phones, we areconstantly wearing technology as a sort of fashion piece. Here are two fashion
pieces that actually are pieces of technology. These LED dog tags and LED belts
from NYCScrolls.com have programmable message slots so that you can display a
scrolling message of your choice. The belt kids range from $39.95 to $59.95 and
they come in several colors and the LED Dog Tag retails for $27.00. These
should be coming to a Club’s dance floor near you, unless you’ve seen someone
wearing them already…

High-Tech Washers & Dryers
October 30, 2005
Heaven knows how many times I’ve forgotten to get the laundry out of the washer or dryer, so I can only imagine how difficult it must be for busy college students to remember to check on their laundry. This year, lucky co-eds at several dorms at the University of Louisville and Northeastern University in Boston will be able to make use of state-of-the-art washers and dryers that can be accessed via the web to see whether a machine is available or how many minutes remain in a cycle. Machines can even send an e-mail or SMS when a wash is done or a dryer opens up. Now if only they would start manufacturing these for home users, they’d already have one customer. October 28, 2005
I spotted these colorful headphones back at Digital Life a few weeks ago. The standard earphones that come with the iPod are just barely acceptable, so upgrading to a new pair is common. Unfortunately, it’s hard to find good quality earbud-style headphones that are white, (though there is the Seinnheiser MX-500), so the iSkin Cerulean earphones are extraspecially unique because they are white with different color "touches" including pink, blue, green and gray. The Cerulean headphones are finally available for sale, and they are even %50 off if you purchase them with an iSkin Duo case for the iPod Nano, which is definitely a case worth checking out if you need to keep your Nano scratch-free. The iSkin site claims that the headphones are "high-definition, bass enhancing earphones." Unfortunately because it is a new product, there are no reviews yet to confirm that claim. Either way these sure look tempting for the fashion-conscience gadgeteteers amongst us.

A Pink I-Dog is Coming
October 27, 2005
Who remembers the adorable white iDog that compliments your iPod by dancing, lighting up, and playing music through its speakers? For those of you pink lovers out there, there is good news - a pink iDog, as well as a light blue iDog are on their way, and there is a blue iDog already available in Japan. (Source: i4u)
AquaVista 500 Fish Tank Art Frame
October 27, 2005
Forget staring at a screen saver with tropical fish, or even buying real fish to put in a crummy old bowl. Instead check out the AquaVista 500 fish tank/frame. This 26 x 26 inch tank is sort of like a plasma display because it’s only 4 inches thick and hangs on your wall as an "animated" art piece. It comes in your choice of 15 wood or plastic frames. The heaters, lights, aeration, and bumps are controlled from an LCD panel on the side, and a biological filtration system removes debris while naturally oxygenating the water. These tanks from Aqua Vista Inc. retail for $299 USD. (Source: Wired Magazine, November 2005)

Epod Portable Media Player
October 24, 2005
Are you the kind of person who strives be unique and always stand out ina crowd? Maybe you can’t stand buying an Ipod just because everyone else has
one? If so, how about getting yourself an ePod. The E Beyond Epod Portable Media
Player is a video recorder that can hold 1 hours worth of video, plus it takes
digital stills, has an mp3 player with a measly capacity of 128mb, a voice
recorder plus speakers, and it has a SD slot for adding memory. The ePod comes in
red or silver which is nice, and the fact that it can record video is nice as
well, but with just 128mb, at a price of $249.95 who are they kidding? I think
even the strongest non-conformists will agree that the iPod is a better value.
On paper the ePod seems to be missing a lot more than just an i.

Recyled Gadget Jewelry
October 14, 2005

Here is a creative way of recycling technology by transforming old spear parts
into Jewelry. An artist named "Zelle", at Elsewares.com, has turned old gadgets
into wearable art. There are necklaces made from used capacitors, bracelets made
from Ethernet cables, a midi plug keychain, and an assortment of other geeky yet
artsy accessories. Now if only I could find that old IDE cable, then maybe I
could save $20 and make my own belt… (Source: Mobile PC Magazine, November 2005)

30Gigs.com is offering 30 gigs of email storage for Free. So far the only catch
is that similarly to Gmail, you need an invite in order to get an account.
However, their site has a list of links where you can score an invite. This all sounds too good to be true, so get’em while their hot.

Frog Dissection Made Easy with Virtual Dissection Software
October 6, 2005
Much of my memories of high school are hazy at best, but one high schoolexperience that still remains vivid in my memory is the trauma of dissecting
frogs in biology lab. At the time I remember asking my lab teacher why we
couldn’t just use computer software instead of wastefully killing real
amphibians.
name of science and education. However, I didn’t see how it was necessary for a
class of 14 year old kids to each have their own dead frog to dissect. Pre-Med
Students? Yes, there is a justifiable need there… but the slaughter of
thousands of frogs each year for a lab class in high school - that just seems
like such an unnecessary waste, not to mention damage to our ecosystem.
programs that were capable enough to simulate a realistic frog.
However, nowadays, thanks to a company called Froguts, the days ofdissecting frogs in labs might be numbered. Schools subscribing to Froguts receive CDs that
guide students through virtual dissections of animals that used to smell up
biology lab: frogs, fetal pigs, squid and others. And the materials can even be
taken home to study. Also, the annual fee for the software is an affordable $300
USD, which leaves lab teachers no excuses anymore. (Source: Cnet)
