SunRocket VOIP great Value
Vonage, Packet8, Broadvoice, AT&T Call Vantage, and other VOIP companies are sprouting up everywhere. They promise great packages - $25 for unlimited calling from Vonage enticed me into trying them. I bought the Adapter for my high speed Cable connection and hooked everything up. Unfortunately, I was horribly disappointed with their service, it didn’t work half of the time and the customer service was a nightmare. I was on hold for an hour on average till I would finally get connected to a rep who often sounded like he/she was very unhappy to be working there. I also kept getting disconnected and passed from one rep to the other…. in other words it was a completely frustrating experience. Needless to say I canceled the service. After Vonage, I swore off trying VOIP again for a while.
Recently I discovered a new VOIP provider Called SunRocket. Their prices are competitive - for $25 a month you get unlimited calls and long distance in the U.S., 2 Phone numbers ( Yes that’s right -two!), 100 minutes of international calls, caller id, voicemail, and a free adapter for your dsl or cable connection. Most other services charge $50-100 for the adapter or they’ll offer it free after rebate. Also, Sunrocket does not have an activation fee or cancellation fee which most other services have. There is a great promotion going on till March 15th - they’ll give you two Uniden Cordless phone handsets to use with your new service (Code: SRAUD3). The folks over at DSL Reports gave Sunrocket good reviews for quality and customer service, so I am psyched! One member posted that faxing works with it as well, but I can’t find a faxing feature on their site to confirm that claim. Most voip’s providers currently don’t offer a faxing capability - the only VOIP i know of that does offer a faxing feature is Vonage.
So Sunrocket sounds too good to be true right? Well i ordered mine today, I’ll let you know how it works out. Anyone else have any experience with them?

I have had SunRocket since March 1st, and so far I have had no problems. I feel it was a great deal, but I will reserve my judgment so far, because I thought Broadvoice was a great deal too, with no problems the first couple of months to have everything happen all at once the last few months. It’s a clear connection and I have not been cut off or anything.
Sunrocket.com…when help or service is neede, it will be your worst nightmare. it is cheap, but not a great value, all features don’t work properly, and if you encounter a problem, technical and customer support are the worst of any company. Days will go by, and nobody will call you back, support reps don;t have a clue, they keep issuing trouble tickets…and you will still be waiting. Pay a little more for a better comapany and product…you will not regret it.
I’ve had SunRocket for a few months now. If you have reliable broadband internet, your modem is in good shape, and you maintain your computer by running anti-spyware and anti-virus software routinely, you will enjoy this service. I highly recommend it to anyone who uses the phone a lot for long distance. I was spending $75 - $90 per month on Verizon. I’ll save about $700 this year. My wife is a hairdresser so she is on the phone constantly with her clients. She can’t live without good phone service. It’s easy to setup and the service reps were very helpful. For those of you who may have experienced problems, I recommend contacting your ISP so they can run diagnostics remotely to ensure your modem and lines are up to spec. Comcast was very helpful when I had trouble. My ten year old modem was going bad. Bought a new modem and it solved the issue. Hey ladies, you have nothing to lose. You get your money back if you are not satisfied. That extra $500 can get you a couple of Brighton bags or something…haha. Enjoy.
SunRocket is simply not reliable. Its is silly, it is always, about 20 times a week down for a period of time. It dials then gets a busy signal for no reason, it will do that for up to an hour. They will loose there network for hours and in some cases a whole day or two. It is not (not not not) a primary line if you need reliability. Also, privacy issues I have had a call waiting call enter into my other call. Bad at this stage sunrocket customers are test rats.
